Middleton Lakes- A showy Grey Heron

Spent Saturday and some of Sunday Morning at Middleton Lakes with a very Showy Juvenile Grey Heron, the lighting was really bad on Saturday but much better on Sunday Morning, the Grey Heron was just sitting there not bothered by us at all, he is so gorgeous feel like cuddling him, he seems ok his very alert and feeding and preening his feathers. Was just amazing being so close to such a wonderful bird and seeing peoples reactions one guy said is he real lol
I could of sat there all day watching him even though there was a very disturbing moment when he caught a poor mouse the poor thing was squeaking and struggling to get away before the Heron gobbled him up alive :( It's nature and the Heron has to eat but was hard to watch lol I will forgive the Heron as his so Beautiful and definitley made my weekend :)
Also on the Saturday had nice views of Little Stint and Curlew Sandpiper still distant but my best views and got some record shots. The little Stint is stunning love the White Tram lines :)

  1. My son and I visited Middleton the week after and the same Heron was still there catching mice it didn't seem at all interested in the people passing by. We stayed watching it for over two hours, great way to spend an afternoon. Fantastic bird blog by the way.
